Kendall Lujan has released “I Wonder”, the latest single from her upcoming album “My Heart Needs Love”, which is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027. The US folk-pop artist describes the new record as a particularly personal project, with a stronger, more dramatic and rock-oriented sound than her first album.
“I Wonder” continues that musical direction with a mid-90s-inspired indie-pop-rock feel while focusing lyrically on a relationship built around unfair behaviour and emotional manipulation.
“I Wonder”: A Song About Calling Out Unfair Behaviour
At the centre of “I Wonder” is a man who believes he has everything and consequently plays with other people’s hearts. According to Lujan, the song follows the consequences of that behaviour and the possibility that he might eventually recognise what he has done.
“I Wonder is a song about a man who thinks he truly has it all. So he toys with women’s hearts only to burn down bridges and maybe possibly realize what he is doing…”
Lujan describes the track as something of an anthem for calling out behaviour that is unfair and unacceptable. She also adds a playful disclaimer that the story is “definitely not a true story.”
Musically, the song sits between folk-pop songwriting and a more pronounced indie-pop-rock approach, with a sound that draws on the mid-90s.
“My Heart Needs Love”: A More Personal Album
“I Wonder” is taken from “My Heart Needs Love”, Kendall Lujan’s forthcoming album.
Lujan describes the record as a deeply personal collection of stories and experiences from approximately the previous year. She says the material ultimately developed into a body of work she is particularly proud of.
Compared with her first record, the new album is described as more dramatic and strong-willed, while also being more “rocky and rolly”. At the same time, Lujan says the songs continue to contain deeper meanings and personal stories.
The album is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027.
